If you're on the lookout for a top-quality modular helmet that offers exceptional safety, comfort, and convenience, then the Shoei Neotec 2 may be just what you need. This helmet has a premium feel and scream of quality. It has been designed with advanced technology, materials, and features for riders who demand the best of the best when it comes to their comfort and safety. It is well established, loved and not inexpensive helmet so is it worth the money?
The Shoei Neotec 2 is an extremely well-constructed modular helmet that has been designed with advanced materials and technology to ensure durability and longevity. It is made up of a multi-layered shell using a mix of fiberglass, organic fibres, and other materials. This construction makes for a sturdy, but lightweight helmet that allows riders to enjoy an increased level of comfort without sacrificing safety. It has been designed in a wind-tunnel to reduce buffering and turbulence and we think it's beautiful.
Comfort is a key consideration for any rider, and the Shoei Neotec 2 has been designed with this in mind for motorcycle sport touring enthusiasts. The helmet features a range of design features that work together to ensure maximum levels of comfort while riding. The interior lining is made with high-quality materials that provide quality feel and comfortable fit.
It comes in three main shell sizes and each can be further refined with 3 headline thicknesses and 4 different cheek pad thicknesses for an optimum fit. The cheek pads have been redesigned to reduce wind noise and ensure snug fit. There is also an ample space within the helmet for riders to wear glasses.
As for the weight, it is one of the heaviest ones weighing around 4 pounds (1.8kg). Despite its seemingly heavier weights, it is loved by many riders for its comfort and high end feel that Shoei Noetec 2 offers. The presence of drop-down sun visor ensures no need to carry extra visor and it works smoothly by operating a slider on a bottom left. It claims to capture 99% of the UV wavelength and it provides good coverage for your eyes as not all of the sun visors do.
We feel that as the technology improved for these helmets the benefits started to outweigh the conservative safety concerns (they argued that the pivot point of the chin bar could cause the helmet to be less secure than traditional full-face helmets). However, with the continues development in materials and improved mechanical design the safety concerns seem to fade away and the modern modular helmets are becoming more and more popular for this reason.
In an accident scenario a rescuing person would not have to take the helmet off to communicate, assess or even give a rescue breathing. In fact, you should never attempt to try to take a helmet off from anyone as this may have disastrous consequences for the crashed motorcyclist. The requirement is for a two qualified people to actually remove a helmet.
The modulars also give you the benefits of more air at lower speeds, when you can just lift up the chin bar going through a town and enjoy a breather on a warm day.

The Shoei Neotec 2 is a premium helmet that comes equipped with a range of safety features, including a reinforced shell, multiple density shock absorbing AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix) to give outstanding protection. It can be ridden with your chin guard down or up, in other word it is the Dual-Homologated helmet.
No modular helmet is SNELL certified but it is both DOT and ECE 22-05 safety standard certified. It scores 4 out of 5 stars for safety by SHARP. However, in testing, its chin bar has remained closed and locked in position 70% of the time. You would think that this is not a great score.
The Shoei Neotec 2 has been designed to provide Bluetooth communication system that can be easily installed and removed. It best integrates with Sena’s 20 series which is compatible with most devices, including smartphones and GPS systems, and allows riders to communicate with their passengers or fellow riders. The system also allows riders to listen to music, take phone calls, and access other important features while riding.
The Shoei Neotec 2 features a top-of-the-line visor that is designed to provide a clear and undistorted view. The visor ability to seal against rain and wind are outstanding and are talked about by many riders. As you’d expect it employs Pinlock insert to ensure fog free vision. The only downside of the visor is that it does not provide that crack open position which hopefully would be improved on its anticipated version Neotec 3.
The Shoei Neotec 2 is claimed to be a quiet helmet thanks to its advanced shell and multi-density liner. This makes the helmet ideal for long commutes and rider trips. However, you’ll always hear that for some it is not a quiet one but that’s likely due to people’s unrealistic expectations.
Overall, the Shoei Neotec 2 is an incredibly well-made helmet that can suit any rider's needs. Its exceptional construction, safety features and comfort provide a comprehensive package for riders looking for the best helmet in the market.
