Love my 98 VFR 800Fi

Beautiful

Beautiful

I’ve had mine over a year now. Love it! Had an R6 Yammy before which was dangerous for my license. This is way more comfortable, not much slower and sounds lovely. A pleasure on longer journeys and power is ample when over 6500 rpm.

I also get way more respect from traffic police than on an R6.

1998 Vfr NEW
by: PG

I traded my blackbird in for the 1998 model.
38000miles ,It came with Scotoiler ,MRA screen and Givi racks ,bar risers all fitted.
Got a 3month warranty on the bike and the electrics played up ie losing power .

Dealer fitted a new wire loom and extension on warranty,
Bike runs fine now.

Prefer to my blackbird as more comfortable and plenty fast enough for real world riding.

Keep it as long as you can
by: BrianL51

My advice would be to keep it as long as you can, for you'll be hard-pressed to find a better bike without shelling out a lot of money. I had one of these from new and I'd have it to this day if I'd not been swatted off it by someone paying more attention to her phone than what was happening on the road in front of her. By this time Honda had taken what I think was a wrong turning with the next generation VFR which was intended to head off an imagined threat from the Aprilia Futura. I next had an FJR1300 and a BMW K1200GT, each of which I kept for some years. Now I'm back to the very latest VFR, which I also bought new a couple of years ago. Honda have now dropped the VFR800, presumably forever, so I reckon this one will see me out. It's really well sorted and perfect for what I need. Casting my mind back though, I don't think it's that much of an improvement over your 98 model which I hope will last you as long as you like.
