The HJC RPHA 90S is a motorcycle helmet that is worth considering and although doesn’t come with integrated Bluetooth technology it is loaded with tons of features which makes it one of the most popular helmets on the market.
The HJC RPHA 90S helmet does not come with an integrated Bluetooth system installed from the factory. However, the helmet is equipped with speaker pockets that accommodate the SMART HJC Bluetooth communication system, which can be easily installed into the helmet. Cardo SMART is specifically designed to make a snug fit with the helmet but there are other Bluetooth kit options to consider depending on your needs.
You can go even step further with the SMART HJC and add an interactive action-cam technology. It kind of makes sense when you can add so much tech into a helmet you may want the flexibility rather than a fixed system.
The Build Quality
The helmet features a lightweight shell made from a combination of carbon fibre, aramid and fiberglass, making it both durable and comfortable to wear. Other features include a sun visor, moisture-wicking interior liner, and a ventilation system to keep riders cool and comfortable on even the longest rides.

HJC RPHA 90S is a modular or flip-up helmet. The chin guard can be flipped up, allowing the rider to easily talk to others or take a drink without having to remove the entire helmet. When the guard is down, it provides the same protection as a traditional full-face helmet. This modular design makes the HJC RPHA 90S a versatile choice for riders who want the convenience of a flip-up helmet without sacrificing safety.
The HJC RPHA 90 and RPHA 90S are both modular helmets with similar features but the revised RPHA 90S has a slightly different shell shape, with a more aerodynamic rear spoiler and side wings for improved stability at high speeds.
Both helmets are made with a carbon fibre, aramid, and fiberglass composite shell. They are also equipped with an integrated ventilation system and chin curtain for reduced wind noise.
As with all helmets, the HJC RPHA 90S may fit different head shapes differently. However, HJC helmets are generally known to fit best on intermediate oval-shaped heads. An intermediate oval head shape is longer front to back and narrower side to side, with a slightly curved shape and it is the most common head shape. If you're unsure about your head shape or the fit of the helmet, it's always a good idea to try on the helmet before making a purchase to ensure a comfortable and secure fit. You can read more about safety of this helmet and its stringent testing on the SHARP website but remember that no matter how good a helmet performs in safety testing, incorrect fit will jeopardise that safety. Correct fit is of primarily importance so read more on how to fit your helmet.
It is a modular helmet so is it heavy?
The weight of the HJC RPHA 90S helmet may vary depending on the size, but in general, it is comparable to other high-end modular helmets on the market. The helmet weighs approximately 3.6 pounds (1.63 kg) in medium size, making it relatively lightweight for a modular helmet. Compared to some other premium modular helmets, like the Shoei Neotec II, the HJC RPHA 90S is slightly lighter. However, it's always a good idea to try on a helmet to get a sense of its weight and fit, as different riders may have different preferences and comfort levels.
The noise level of the HJC RPHA 90 helmet may vary depending on the type of bike and riding conditions, but in general, it offers a good balance between noise reduction and ventilation. The helmet features a ventilation system design that helps to circulate air, reduce humidity and help to reduce wind noise. Thanks to tight-fitting seals around the chin bar and visor the wind noise is effectively reduced. Additionally, the helmet has a moldable liner and removable ear pads which also aid in noise reduction. Overall, the HJC RPHA 90S provides decent noise reduction for a modular helmet. However, most riders will still find it necessary to use earplugs with any helmet on the market which we would strongly recommend for optimal comfort.
In summary, while the HJC RPHA 90S helmet may not provide the same level of noise reduction as some full-face helmets, it provides a good balance between noise reduction and versatility.
The visor on the HJC RPHA 90S helmet is a clear, anti-fog (Pinlock) and scratch-resistant visor that offers unobstructed 95% UV protection. The visor is made from a polycarbonate material that is lightweight and provides great impact resistance.
The helmet features HJC's RapidFire III visor replacement system, which makes it very easy and quick to change visors without requiring any tools. The visor can be easily removed and reinstalled, making it easy to clean and maintain.
One of the best features of the HJC RPHA 90S is the built-in sun visor, which is operated by a slider on the left side of the helmet. The sun visor is smoke-tinted, anti-scratch and antifog (coated). It is easily operated when wearing gloves, making it great for quickly adjusting to changing light conditions.
