With a range of models to choose from, Bridgestone has a tyre to suit every rider's needs and preferences. So, whether you are an avid long-distance tourer or a weekend warrior, trust Bridgestone to provide the performance and reliability you need to enjoy the ride to the fullest. We have decided to look closely at some of the models from our own experience and further research.

Bridgestone Battlax BT-021

This is now quite an old tyre introduced back in 2005 which was later updated with the BT-023. The Bridgestone Battlax BT-021 tyre was designed to provide riders with reliable performance, excellent handling, and long-lasting tread life. It was optimized for sport-touring motorcycles and featured a dual-compound construction that delivered excellent grip and stability in both wet and dry conditions. Since then, it has been replaced with newer models, but it is still a popular tire for those seeking a cost-effective solution.

These Bridgestone tyres have been close to my heart for a long time. We have done 12000 miles on the rear on VFR800Fi, on our first tour in Europe. Before that we had done some short blasts locally, and on our return I have done a track day. It was still enough rubber left for another couple of thousand miles at a push.

Bridgestone BT-021

The Bridgestone BT-021 felt exceptionally stable at high speeds and also safe with the loaded bike and a pillion. They've provided good grip at relatively high temperatures boosting confidence on those winding roads across Pyrenees Mountains.

Reliable on a wet however, never really pushed them much as you do in such conditions. Perhaps I wouldn't be happy with any tyres at the time on wet roads, as much as I am on dry roads.

On the track there were not bad considering they’re not typical sport tyres and they had the profile already changed quite bit after Europe. They felt quite sticky on cornering as it got to their temperature rather quickly. On that circuit they say three laps before your rubber worms up but BT-021 were ready after the first lap. Consequently, towards the end of sessions the tyres got probably too soft and started to feel slippery when cornering.

My conclusion is that with its exceptional wear and sticky sides the Bridgestone motorcycle sport touring tyres BT-021 is an excellent choice.

This is how they looked at the end of life. You can notice the step from the middle-harder compound to the sides-softer compound which you could expect. Towards the end of the tyre life you can notice how this affects steering. Surely, you will notice the difference in when you change them to a new set.

At the front (bottom left photo), pretty much the same situation. The step from the hard to soft component is evident but the tyre thread is still legal after 16800 miles.
